Next game: Doodle Parachute Drop

I confess: After the release of the final version of my last game-project DOODLE BOUNCER I didn’t return to the development of WANG!

Instead of the finalization of What A Nasty Game I started coding a new game: Doodle Parachute Drop. Now the second beta of this game is available, including a web-version in HTML5.

What do you think about this game? I’m looking forward to your feedback!

New projekt: DOODLE BOUNCER

A sad news: The development of What A Nasty Game is on hold.

A positive news: While WANG! is on hold I develop a new, fantastic game – DOODLE BOUNCER.

After only four days of work I released today the open beta of DOODLE BOUNCER > download it here.

When the development if DOODLE BOUNCER is finished I will resume the work on WANG! Promised!

The tool behind WANG!

Usually modern games are developed in C++, Flash, Java, Unity or anything like that. But not WANG! What A Nasty Game. I develop my game with GameMaker.

GameMaker is a tool from Mark Overmars, published by YoYoGames. If you take a look at GameMaker, you’ll see it’s very simple.

How the idea was born

A few years ago I played I Wanna Be The Guy, one of the hardest games ever. I hated that game, really! And I loved it! Because the very hard skill level is a fantastic USP (unique selling point).

I descided to copy the fundamental game-design, but to emphasize the frustration-factor and combine it with a special kind of humor. The idea for the predecessor of What A Nasty Game, Das fieseste Game der Welt, was born!

Blood and gore

WANG! What A Nasty Game will have reduced, retro-style gfx and it’ll be a platformer, but this game won’t be cute! It’ll be hard, nasty and mean. To emphasize this aspect I’ll implement many blood- and gore-fx! Take a look at the first bloody screenshot:

Why PC only?

I develop WANG! What A Nasty Game on my PC and it will be released only on that system. “What da heck, are you crazy? The iPhone and iPad are much cooler, dude! PC suxxx!!” some may say. And they’re right. The iPhone and iPad are really cool! But the PC is neither dead nor oldscool. The computer is still alive and freshly young – thanx to all the Facebook-, Social- and Browsergames. And of course to the developers of fantastic games like Starcraft, WoW or Total War.

And in addition … the most important arguement: I don’t know how to code iPhone/iPad-games!

Maybe I will release in the distant future a version for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and your toaster. But this will take time. Until then please look forward to the release of the PC-only-version of WANG!. Thank you!
